What audio component does it have in the device manager? My guess is that you've got nonstandard audio equipment. Either that, or actual problems with your hardware.

This installation is a bit problematic. I really should just format the disk, but I was hoping the problems could be solved by just a fresh install of Win 10.

"High Definition Audio Device" is the default crap they install for any speaker system. Sorry, I was hoping that there would be a better description of the device my bad.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help. You already knew that formatting was the better option, and I don't really think anything else could have been done other than that.

Nah, you're absolutely right, I was just hoping I could get away with a less work-intensive option. Lesson learned. I've been looking at some other machines to get some better processing power; maybe a tower to act as the base machine (for the company's work, maybe a server application or two, and Out of the Park Baseball) and then turn this guy into the roam-around device, once we are all roaming around again.
